After one year I moved to Paris, France. Not much scope for home decorating there. I lived in a tiny furnished room, where the home decor consisted of a narrow bed, a pine wood chair, a wardrobe and a wood cabinet with a washbowl. A bare light bulb hung from the ceiling. All I added was a decorative mirror, a reading lamp and a crystal vase, which I kept filled with fresh flowers from the market.
Do not I repeat do cheap ready-made curtains not leave a spare key under the rug or in a flower pot. Instead, give the spare key to a neighbor or friend in case you get locked out of your house.
Increase the amount of lighting around your home. I just had a motion sensor flood light installed on my front porch. Ensuring there is plenty of light (especially when it turns on unexpectedly when someone walks up) will help deter intruders.
The typical window blind comes in a number of forms. You have the popular roman, roller, Venetian and bamboo blinds to name but a few. These are generally lower priced than bespoke or custom curtains for instance. Although lower in price they can serve the purposes well dependent upon your goals. Roller blinds are a good option for those areas of the home tenda a vetro bagno which does not require total privacy.
Crime prevention starts in the home, so set up family meetings and address the importance of good home security. The basis is working with what you have. I'm not suggesting you purchase hundreds of panoramic glass curtains dollars worth of home security products right away. But if you have locks on your doors and windows, use them! A lock is a terrible thing to waste, especially when it's the only thing preventing you from becoming another crime statistic.
Lighting habits are very important. Although it is not necessary to keep a light on in every room of your home, keeping lights on in the rooms that your family usually occupies is a must. Set up a light timer (available at major hardware stores).
When purchasing made to measure curtains there are several other factors to consider. The first is how long do you want the curtain? Sill length? Floor length? Floor to ceiling? Or perhaps you are using a cornice or a valence with your curtains. This will determine the length but keep in mind...that is your preference so be sure you know the look you are going for. Designers will buy curtains that are wider than the actual window itself to make it look more substantial in the room.
